Grown natively in the Kimberley and Arnhem Land, Kakadu Plum has adapted to survive the harsh, arid climate and has long been used for its nutritional and healing properties by Aboriginal communities. But what makes it a skincare superhero?

Kakadu Plum is wild harvested in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Queensland.

It is also known as Billy Goat Plum, Salty Plum, Wild Plum, Kullari Plum, Murunga, Marnybi, Manmohpan, Gabiny or Gubinge.

1. It brightens the complexion

Kakadu Plum contains the highest recorded levels of ascorbic acid of any fruit, making it the world’s most potent and stable form of natural Vitamin C. Studies show that it contains up to 100 times more Vitamin C than oranges, with the concentration of vitamin C in Kakadu Plum to be as high as 3200-5000mg/100g, compared to 50mg/100g for oranges. This is why Kakadu Plum is able to brighten the complexion, reduce hyperpigmentation and even skin tone.

2. It reduces the signs of ageing

The high levels of Vitamin C in Kakadu Plum stimulates the synthesis of collagen and reduces the appearance of fine lines. Not only that but Kakadu Plum also contains ellagic acid, a phenolic antioxidant that encourages skin elasticity and suppleness.

3. It protects the skin from oxidative stress

One of the key reasons why Vitamin C is vital for skin health is its ability to fight against oxidative stress caused by free radicals. The powerful antioxidants contained in Kakadu Plum helps alleviate damage caused by environmental factors such as UV and pollution.

4. It balances acne prone skin

In addition to ellagic acid, Kakadu Plum also contains gallic acid, another phenolic antioxidant with anti-sceptic and anti-inflammatory properties. This means it can reduce swelling and redness and is an ideal ingredient for acne or breakout prone skin.

Kakadu Plum is the hero ingredient in our Vitamin C Serum.
